Baby Traveling Tips
@awakenwithjp and I both love to travel and have been super excited to get Wilder out on the road with us for some little adventures.
And while Wilder is a super sweet and calm baby, we’ve had our fair share of challenges while flying, driving & exploring with him.
Below are a few key tips I’ve picked up from trial & error over the last few months. I hope they serve you & your family.
⚡️Rent baby equipment in the location you are visiting using Babyquip.com. On this site you can rent everything from cribs, to play mats, to high chairs, to strollers and toys for your little one from local families who have all the gear. It’s super easy and affordable.
⚡️Always bring your own car seat and stroller even if it feels like a pain in the butt to travel with them. I learned this the hard way. Not all rental car companies have the correct size car seat for your baby/toddler or one that your kid will like.
⚡️Hire a nanny to support your family during longer trips. We’ve hired a local nanny in the location we were staying and also brought our nanny with us. Both are great options that allowed us to have a little playtime away from Wilder.
⚡️Bring extra back up breast milk in a small cooler and pump if you are breastfeeding. It never hurts to have extra. Especially if you intend to hire a nanny/sitter on the trip for time away from the baby.
⚡️Pack toys, swaddles, white noise machine, baby monitor, blackout curtains, etc to create the best sleeping environment for the baby that feels like home.
⚡️Rent an Airbnb home instead of a hotel room. This will ensure you have a fridge for milk and many of the comforts of home while away. We’ve done both and having a separate space for baby naps feels nearly impossible in a hotel.
⚡️Stay hydrated and bring plenty of snacks for you and your travel companions. Dealing with the unknowns of travel while being hungry and thirsty with a cranking baby is not fun.
⚡️Bring a comfortable baby carrier. Add padding to make it better for the baby. We added a rolled-up blanket to the seat of Wilders carrier. Game changer!
What tips would you add to my list?!
Much Love,
